The Victoria Suite

The Victoria suite is arranged around one of the most remarkable objects in the house: an antique half-tester bed sourced from Queen Victoria’s Balmoral Castle. The canopy, the scale, the craft of the frame — these are things that photographs suggest but that the room itself confirms. The rest of the suite is arranged to let this piece breathe.
East-facing, Victoria receives the earliest light of the three suites. On a clear morning, Mount Rainier is visible above the rooflines of the surrounding neighborhood. The sofa and sitting area face the room’s interior rather than the windows — a space that suits guests who come primarily for the house itself.

A Bathroom With Historic Beauty

The bathroom features a walk-in shower with a low threshold, marble tile floors, and an antique dresser repurposed as a vanity with sink — a piece that belongs to the suite’s overall sensibility of historic beauty made functional.
