The Adams Pragge House
Victorian Bed & Breakfast

Discreet Luxury ~ Historic Elegance

Welcome!

The Adams Pragge House Victorian Bed & Breakfast offers an inviting and intimate experience of Port Townsend’s architectural grandeur. More than just a place to lay your head, it’s a monument to the City of Dreams’ heritage, with its own fascinating narrative contributing to the Olympic Peninsula’s rich historical tapestry. We prioritize guest comfort in an environment of serene, old world luxury, where warm hospitality and subtle touches await those seeking a discreet, tranquil haven. Ideally situated in Port Townsend’s picturesque Uptown neighborhood, we’re simultaneously close to everything and tucked away from the fray of local tourism — quiet enough to hear the faint bells of the buoys on Admiralty Inlet or the Courthouse clock striking the hour across town. Breakfast is a grand, three-course affair, reflecting both the traditional and innovative spirit of Pacific Northwest cuisine with a seasonal menu featuring everything from Washington huckleberries to local ice cream. Whether you’re here to explore the Olympic Peninsula or simply to breathe fresh sea air, relax, and enjoy our artistic and culturally vibrant maritime city at the gateway to the Puget Sound, the Adams Pragge House Bed & Breakfast is an accommodation of choice you’ll want to return to again and again.

What’s in a Name?

The home of The Adams Pragge House has been called the Captain John Quincy Adams House for more than 70 years. Have questions? So did we…

History & Legacy

Built by Albert C. Adams in 1889 and updated with historic sensitivity, this house has ridden the waves of her city’s boom and bust times; homed merchants, mayors, and mothers, as well as Washington’s fifth lieutenant governor; born witness to tall ships and electric cars; hosted dignitaries and served as birthplace of the San Juan Baptist Church. That’s it, with the striped tower roof, in the center of this remarkable photo from 1890.
