Explore Victorian Port Townsend
An Interactive Map of Historic Homes and Architecture
This interactive map documents more than 300 surviving Victorian-era homes and buildings across Port Townsend, Washington. Drawing on archival records, historic photographs, and public data, it offers a self-guided way to explore the architectural and social history of one of the Pacific Northwest’s most intact 19th-century seaport communities.
Each mapped location includes, where available, construction dates, property and family names, builders, notable residents, and contextual notes. Hundreds of historic images — many dating from the 1880s through the early 1900s — allow visitors to compare past and present streetscapes and to see both how much Port Townsend has changed and how remarkably much has endured for more than 125 years.
“Port Townsend is a museum and you are the caretakers.”
~Victor Steinbrueck, Architect and Preservationist, 1961
